Night in Venice, Ocean City, NJ

Night in Venice is the name of the annual Boat Parade in Ocean City. Boats usually have a theme and decorate their boats. There is also a Miss Night in Venice chosen.
My parents live on the bay in a lagoon and everyone decorates their houses.
Wish you all could have
come!
Jennifer aka Gigi

This year our theme was Flower Power. One year we won for The Red Hats...

Good friends Chris and Bud and Gerry!

Decked out Hawaiian flowers, Mary Lou and Rick

My brothers were all there and my dear Mom. We also enjoyed the company of some of our friends.

Our fam with my Dad!

Next door's party was great and they had singer Bob Campanelle play...it was so much fun...The Monkees, The Temptations, Bob Dylan, The Beatles...we had so much fun.

Our Nautical Family

I came across these photos when our children were young dressed in our sailor suits. We were taking a picture for our Christmas card. I still have the dress!

This is the lagoon where my parents lived when I was first married. My husband looks so funny with a beard! Notice my Dockers!

"Social Climbing" at the Jersey Shore!

Cheers Everyone! Yesterday I got to meet Beth Dunn, author of Social Climbers , about life on the Main line and the Jersey Shore. You must read her book...it is funny and informative. She is also a blogger who got me into blogging!!!! Such a relaxing pastime to read all your blogs!

She also met my niece Carling and sis in law Janice...Carling is a great sailor.

Beth treated me to a yummy lunch at the Yacht Club and we dished about blogland and life at the Jersey Shore...She just celebrated her birthday, so of course, flowers were in hand!

Beth's son Greye was sailing. He is a real sweetie! very respectful! Beth is such a genuine person.

A beach day and wine sound soooo good about now! Air conditioners are breaking everywhere....so we are crazy busy...but are grateful for the work.

This weekend is Night in Venice in Ocean City, NJ. It is a big boat parade and the island is filled with parties!People on the bay decorate their houses and boats. Our theme this year is "Flower Power." Check back next week for pics! The owner of Toll Brothers lives next door to my parents and they are having a band...should be fun!!

Hope you are all having a wonderful and safe summer!
His mercies are new every morning! xoxoxo Jennifer aka Gigi

Have you Seen Any of These Pictures of the Oil Spill?

I grew up by the ocean at the Jersey Shore! I love the water, the beach, the sun...
These pictures are from the Gulf Coast from the Blog Bumpkin on a Swing. Her husband is a Captain and has been working to help clean up the oil spill. They have a lot of good information on their blog. He has a separate link to his posts.

Please pray for the clean up and all the people who have been effected economically.
Please pray that they can cap the well.
Continue to buy gas at BP because they are small business owners who are not at fault for the spill. It BP goes bankrupt their obligations will not be met.
Consider a vacation to the Gulf.
We at the Jersey Shore stand with you. As we enjoy the beautiful ocean, let's not forget those who are suffering.

Thanks! Jennifer aka Gigi

Mushrooms anyone?

Mushrooms anyone?

Do you have mushrooms growing in your grass when it is rainy and shady? I do!
These are some of the mushrooms I picked from my yard last yr.

I have never seen so many types!
What kind of mushrooms do you have?
I have never eaten any of the ones in my yard because I hear some are poisonous!

Mushrooms are grown in Kennett Square PA near the Amish Country.
I loved sauteed mushrooms with steak.

Do you have any good Mushroom Recipes?
Please pass them on.... Jennifer aka Gigi

The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof!
Aren't all the colors of nature awesome?

Here are some quotes I found rather inspirational!

You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every
July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the
White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics
where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies
die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is
patriotism. - Erma Bombeck

Jennifer @ Monticello-Home of Thomas Jefferson

Let
every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, we shall pay any
price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose
any foe, to assure the survival and success of liberty.~Thomas Jefferson
