We Remember President Washington and Lincoln

President's Day

"To be prepared for war is one of the most effective means of preserving peace."
George Washington

"One method of preserving it (public credit) is to use it as sparingly as possible...avoiding likewise the accumulation of debt."

A Needlepoint of the Mourning of President Washington- All Above from Winterthur

"Let us have faith that right makes might, and in that faith let us dare to do our duty as we understand it...Be sure you put your feet in the right place, then stand firm."
Abraham Lincoln

  1. Perfect post for President's day, Jennifer! I am a fan of Winterthur too, -love their catalog that is full of treasures. Your quote is so ironic about "accumulation of debt". My guess is that the founding fathers would rollover in their graves to see where our politicians have taken our country financially. I only pray that we find a way to solve it all before our precious children and grands have to suffer for it all!

  2. I agree Donna...we have taken a lot for granted in our country. Will the people respond or is there too much apathy? For our kids sake I hope America fights back.
